The challenge was to create a 42 Unit Extra Care Housing Scheme within this small village in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The only suitable site within the village was an existing partially occupied Local Authority Sheltered Housing Scheme. A phased development involved the demolition of approximately one half of the existing building, to be replaced by Phase One (16 Apartments and Communal Facilities).
The residents moved into the completed building enabling the demolition of the remaining building to take place and Phase 2 to commence.
The scheme is featured in the Housing Corporations Guide to Rural Housing.
