BIRKBY LODGE, HUDDERSFIELD
Birkby Lodge is a Grade II listed building set in the Birkby conservation area with an Arts and Crafts Interior by Edgar Wood. We were appointed to prepare plans for restoration of the external fabric, and to produce development proposals for the lodge and surrounding site.
The lodge itself had served as a private residence, company headquarters and latterly a hotel.
Proposals for the conversion involved creation of one large residence and 2 cottages whilst creating apartments which retain all of the principle interior rooms and important design features.
Further development of the site involves the creation of a new access and a block of 6 split-level town houses, designed to complement the listed building with flush ashlar and dressed stone detailing.
