
Langtry-Langton Architects is an experienced and highly regarded practice with a specialism in the design of School Buildings -. Design for education is a core part of our business.
We are constantly evolving our approach to the design of Schools and we are committed to supporting and working in partnership with Schools' Governing bodies and Local Authorities and to shape education buildings in line with the changing teaching practice.
Langtry-Langton has been appointed to 8 schools within Bradford's 'Building Schools for the Future' Programme. Working in close collaboration with the schools we been involved from 'Strategy for Change' stage through to final approval — work on the first 4 schools will begin in June 2010.
We are currently on site with 2 'Learning and Skills Council' projects providing Post 16 provision' and have recently completed 2 pathfinder schemes which include specialist skills centres. The project at Heckmondwike Grammar School was a partnership with the LEA' LSC & School to deliver basic needs accommodation together with post 16 provision.
The Practice is currently involved in the Schools re-organisation for the Leeds Catholic Diocese and has provided development plans to accommodate a projected increase in pupil numbers. The projects are currently on site
We have been responsible for the delivery of over 40 new schools and in excess of 250 significant remodelling and extension projects — we are currently retained at over 50 schools as architectural advisors. Our design teams are experienced and committed to making high quality school buildings for the whole team to be proud of.
We are committed to creating a close working relationship with our school clients and education providers . We fully engage with Governors' Staff and Pupils during each project and enjoy a close relationship with all our school parents. We regularly participate in design workshops throughout the academic year as well as attending careers seminars and career day events.
We have extensive experience in providing innovative design solution to improve and replace outdated school buildings - through remodelling and new build to suit the school's need. We design contemporary education facilities which reflect an ever changing pedagogy — buildings that are flexible and can adapt to future requirements.
The full integration of Information and Communication Technology is at the heart of our education solutions — working with specialist partners we strive to ensure that the building is suitable for current ICT installations and is flexible enough to adapt as future developments and requirements are realised.
Our buildings are designed to be constructed in and to operate in the most energy efficient manner possible — our two schemes in North Tyneside have both received a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating — providing some of the most energy efficient buildings in the country.
We are committed to a partnership ethos and have extensive experience in collaborative working. The Practice has completed over £85 million of construction projects delivered under partnering arrangements. The Practice works with an ethos of Partnering to ensure all stakeholders have input into the design decisions to ensure successful outcomes are achieved. Working with the Local Authority' School' Contractor' Pupils and all stakeholders in a "Partnering" culture means that teamwork' trust and communication are inherent. This environment leads to a solution-orientated and pro-active relationship where improvements and best practice can evolve through each project.
We have taken students to the Sorrel Foundation to develop design ideas' undertake design workshops and engage in scheme evaluation —we also take students on work experience programmes.
