NEW CHILDREN'S CENTRE, ELLAND
The scheme is sited at Elland C of E School and includes an innovative approach to Nursery Care and School provision, allowing an interaction between the two. The centre provides integrated education, care, family support and health services to the local community.
The Scheme involved neighbourhood consultation to create a sustainable community resource.
The building includes a neighbourhood care, interview room, Sure Start offices, training room, consultation room, 6 place 0-2 room, 24 place 2-3 room, together with a vibrant external play space.
The scheme creates a flow from babies (0-2 year provision) through to toddlers (2-3 year provision) and finally the link to the junior school at 4 and 5 years of age.
The building connects to the existing nursery. The new building echoes the existing form with the first floor offices located within the roof space.
